I am pleased to present the following good news items from our district schools:
CD East Middle School flew a special flag that was used in a special ceremony at the Army Base in Kandahar, Afghanistan , and was signed by the Officers who were the task force commanders between April 2003 and February 2004 in remembrance of the September 11th Tragedy.
CD East High School participated in SnapShot PA One Day in the Life of Libraries on October 28th. The purpose of SnapShot PA is to study the impact libraries have on their communities on one given day by having students take photographs, record comments and statistics and share the results with school officials.
CD High School participated and taped an episode of News 8 WGAL’s Brain Busters on October 28th in Lancaster. The match against Hershey High School will run on November 7th at 1 p.m. CD High students were accompanied to the taping by school librarian, Mrs. Brenda Blackburn-Foster.
Christian Green, Natasha Cebular, Kelonie Brookin, and Haili Anderson of Paxtonia Elementary School were the top vote getters in the PA Attorney General’s Red Ribbon Week Calendar Poster Contest.
Students from CD East High participated in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Career Program at Penn State Harrisburg on October 27th.
Pick up your Karns Supermarket Reward Card and participate in Karns 1 For the Schools Program to support the CD RamBand. Simply follow the instructions on the back of the card to activate.
Team Linglestown, of Linglestown Middle School, participated in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk. 103 students, teachers and parents walked for the 11th year to raise $9,000.
Linglestown Middle School had a special guest visit their school as enrichment to their unit of study on Anne Frank, Hilda Mantelmacher, a Holocaust Survivor, to share stories with the 8th grade class of her time in concentration camps.

Dr. Gonzalez and I will host a Community Chat on Wednesday, November 4th at 6 p.m. in the CD East Middle School library. All community members are welcome.
Dr. Gonzalez and I met with CD East High Students of the Student Advisory Committee (SAC) on October 28th. We will be hosting a SAC meeting at CD High School on November 5th of this week. These will be monthly meetings that we will host with the students to glean feedback from students about their schools.
