Principal's Message: Central Dauphin East High School is a part of the Central Dauphin School District which is located northeast of the city of Harrisburg in a suburban setting. It encompasses an area of 125 square miles and is comprised of four townships: Lower Paxton, Middle Paxton, Swatara and West Hanover, and two municipalities: Penbrook and Paxtang. The total population for the community is 15,586 with current student population of 11,015. The students attend one of thirteen (13) elementary schools, four (4) middle schools, and two (2) senior high schools. Students are transported from urban, suburban, and rural areas by the district bus system. The district is comprised of students from diverse social and economical backgrounds. Central Dauphin East High School, established in 1961, is a four-year comprehensive, public high school with an enrollment of approximately 1,650 students. The building is fully accredited by Middle Atlantic States Association - 1967, 1977, 1987, 1997 and 2007. Our school operates on a semester cycle school year for a total of 182 student days. To graduate in 2010, students must earn twenty-four (24) credits in grades 9-12. Students receive credit for taking the traditional courses offered, but may elect a variety of elective credits in the areas of history, politics, physics, organic chemistry, communication technology, technical drawing, computer applications, art, music, and family/consumer science. Students also have the opportunity to select accelerated/advanced placement courses in English, U.S. History, European History, World History, Government & Citizenship, Physics, Chemistry, Calculus, Spanish, French, Latin, German, and Psychology. Students may participate in a wide variety of extra-curricular activities. We offer varsity athletic programs in cross country, football, golf, soccer, field hockey, volleyball, tennis, basketball, swimming, wrestling, baseball, softball, and track and field. Students can participate in ice hockey, gymnastics, and boys and girls lacrosse on a club level. East High students can also become involved in student government, class councils, dramatic plays, musicals, marching band, jazz band, singing groups, foreign language clubs, ski club, Key Club, Future Business Leaders of America, Best Buddies Program, SADD, Cultural Diversity, ACCU, Literary Club, and peer tutoring.
