    Traffic Issues at East High

For the purposes of enhancing vehicle and pedestrian safety on the campus of Central Dauphin East High School, effective December 2, 2014, there will be new student drop off/pick up procedures in effect during the time periods of
    7:00 a.m. – 7:45 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. – 2:45 p.m ONLY.

The new drop off/pick up location for students will be at the gymnasium entrance in the back of the school.  Vehicles should enter via Union Deposit Road and travel up to the very top of the parking lot (where the first bus is parked) and make a left into the lot and follow it down to the gymnasium to drop off/pick up students.  There will be signs marked Student Drop Off/Pick Up with arrows indicating traffic pattern.  Click HERE to access a map of the new traffic pattern.

You will be able to enter via Rutherford Road, but you will not be permitted to drop off or pick up your student at the front entrance, you will need to keep moving to the back of the school.  This entrance is designated for bus loading and unloading during these time periods.  Lower Paxton Township Police will take the appropriate enforcement action as necessary.

Please exercise caution when driving in this area, as our student drivers utilize the bottom half of the parking lot closest to Union Deposit Road. Thank you in advance for your cooperation in these changes to ensure the safety of our students, staff and visitors to the campus.

    Attention Parents/Guardians:

In the interest of the safety and security of our students and staff, the Central Dauphin School District School Board recently approved the implementation of School Gate Guardian Visitor Management Systems at all district buildings. The visitor management system will provide the Central Dauphin School District with the ability to keep an up-to-date verified log of visitors. Visitors include parents/guardians, contractors, and volunteers to whom we have given access to our schools.

Beginning August 31, 2015, all visitors (parents/guardians, volunteers, contractors, etc.) wishing to gain access to any elementary, middle or high school will be required to provide a valid state issued picture identification card, preferably a photo driver’s license or photo non-driver’s license, to the front office personnel of the school. If you do not have a photo driver’s license or a photo non-driver’s license, you must provide an alternate form of photo identification and/or valid state issued identification. Government employees may show their state or federal issued identification. Your identification will be processed and your photo will be taken creating a badge for you to wear while visiting the school. This system has the ability to provide alerts on individuals who may jeopardize the safety of our campus. Once entry is approved, the visitor management system will print a badge that identifies the visitor, the date, time, photograph, who they are meeting and the destination of the visitor.

Your support in the ongoing efforts to enhance the safety and security of our schools is appreciated. Thank you for your patience and cooperation. Should you have further questions or concerns, please direct them to the principal of your child’s school, or to Nic Barrelet, CDSD Director of Safety and Security at 545-4703, x506.
