The Central Dauphin School District is governed by a board of nine school directors who are citizens of the school district and who are elected for four-year terms on a staggered basis. The daily operations and management of the school district are performed by a central administrative staff which is led by the school district superintendent who is appointed by the Board of School Directors.

Citizens are encouraged to attend Board meetings. Notice of the Board meeting dates, times and location is advertised to the public. The meetings are open to the public, and members of the public may address the Board in accordance with procedures adopted by the Board as follows:
Meetings of the Board are open to the public and residents wishing to present any matter for Board consideration must notify the superintendent up until 5 minutes prior to the start time of the regular Board meeting. The Board reserves the right to limit discussion on any items by a member of the public. At all regular meetings of the Board, a maximum period of thirty (30) minutes shall be set aside for questions or comments from interested citizens.
