Welcome 2023-24
WELCOME-- I am looking for a fun-filled year with your child. There are many things that we will cover throughout the year. Going to Kindergarten is an important step in your child's life. It will help them build skills they will build on throughout their life. The more we work together, the more successful your child will be.Five and six year old children come to Kindergarten with different skills, unique personalities, talents and readiness. The Kindergarten program begins at a slower pace to ensure that all students ease into the school year at their comfort level. Please be patient with the first few weeks of instruction. There will be a tremendous amount of learning and your child will grow both academically and socially.Students need structure and consistency with the right amount of fun mixed in so that they look upon school as an enjoyable place to be. When given an opportunity a child can learn so much. I hope this first school experience will open the door to many positive learning opportunities.DAILY FOLDER--Your child will have a folder that should go to and from school daily. Please check the folder each night. You will find work that has been done and also may find fliers, notes, or reminders in here and even items to return, as well. If you have a note to give to me, please place it in the folder, too. At times, there may be a homework assignment to practice reading a book, reading letters, or sight words. They may even practice math skills. You and Your Belongings--Take time to label your child's belongings with his/her name. Be sure your child has an extra set of clothes in his/her bookbag. We know at times accidents happen. It is helpful, too, that your child can zip, snap, button or tie clothing items. Be sure to change out some of the clothes with the seasons. Please do not send toys to school, unless we are having a special activity. These can be disruptive for a child's learning. As the weather gets warmer, please be sure your child has the appropriate coat/light jacket or sweatshirt for the weather. Check to be sure your child has his/her pencil box or pouch, folder, snack and water bottle with him/her each day.Websites that are helpfulI look forward to working with you and your child in the upcoming school year.
