    State Mandated Medical Examinations and Screenings

    Physical Exams

    A medical examination is required for all students upon original entry to school (kindergarten or first grade), sixth grade, and eleventh grade. Parents are encouraged to have the physical done by their family physician because he/she is familiar with the student's medical history. Private physician reports are provided at the appropriate times or per parent request.

    Dental Exams

    A dental examination is required for all students upon original entry to school, in third grade and seventh grade. Parents are encouraged to have the physical done by their family dentist because he/she is familiar with the student's medical history. Private dental reports are provided at the appropriate times or per parent request.

    Screenings

    All students shall have their weight, height, and BMI calculated each year. In addition, a near and far vision examination will be performed. Letters will be sent informing parents of the results.

    In addition to these yearly screenings:

    -Kindergarten students will have a hearing test performed.

    -1st grade students will have a hearing test, Plus Lens, and a Color Vision test performed.

    -2nd grade students will have a hearing test and a depth perception test performed.
     
    -3rd grade students will have a hearing test in addition to the yearly vision screening.
     

    If any abnormal results are found, the parents will be contacted by a formal letter. If you should have a concern regarding your child's weight, vision, or hearing, do not hesitate to contact the nurse to discuss your concerns.
