• The policy for reccomended length of absence for specific disease and infectious conditions is as follows:
     
    Acute contagious conjunctivitis (pink eye):  Twenty four hours from institution of appropriate therapy.
                                     
    Chickenpox:  Six days from the last crop of vesicles
    Impetigo:  Until judged noninfective by the school nurse, or by the child's physician
                 
    Measles:  Four days from rash onset
    Mumps:  9 days from onset or until swelling has subsided                                            
                                                    
    Pediculosis capitis (lice):  Until judged nonineffective and nit free by school nurse or child's physician
    Pediculosis corpora (body lice):  Until judged noninfective by school nurse or child's physician
                                    
    Respiratory streptococcal infections, including scarlet fever:  No less than 7 days from onset if no physician is in attendance or 24 hours from institution of appropriate therapy.
    Ringworm (all types):  Until judged noninfective by the school nurse or child's physician                                                                        
                                                             
    Rubella (German Measles):  Four days from rash onset
     
    Tonsillitis:  24 hours from institution of appropriate therapy
