Engineering III -- Advanced Topics
Engineering and Design 3, Advanced Topics, is for students who successfully complete Engineering and Design 2, and who wish to challenge themselves further by concentrating in a specific area of engineering or technology. Students work independently, and are responsible for researching their topics in-depth. A wide variety of topics may be explored, subject to approval by the instructor. Each student is responsible for submitting, and having approved, a project proposal as part of the topic selection process in September. Students present their topics and research results, and an accompanying, independently developed project in late May. Broad engineering areas such as types of materials, materials fabrication, electricity/electronics, and others are also reviewed by the entire class. Space for this independent study class is limited.
