School Counselor, students last names H-MA

I am currently in my 10th year as a school counselor at East High.  My favorite part of my job is meeting with students and watching their journey from freshman year to graduation.  East High's students are diverse and resilient.  I enjoy helping students with any academic, career/college, personal, or social need they may have.

I graduated from Lebanon Valley College with a degree in psychology.  I was a member of the football team at LVC and learned the important skills of balancing athletics with academics.  These are now skills I try to emphasize with our students as they balance different parts of their lives with their classes at East High.  I hope that all students at East High can meet their full potential.

I enjoy spending time with my family and watching my two sons play sports and grow.  I love spending time outdoors hiking, camping, biking, and fly fishing.  And of course going to the beach and traveling.

Hi everyone! My journey to becoming a school counselor was not what one would call typical. I received my degree in Business Administration from University of Phoenix and spent 13 years in sales and marketing at D&H Distributing. While I loved the company I worked for, I still felt I had missed my calling. I decided to quit my job and go back to school to become a school counselor. I graduated from Shippensburg University with a masters in school counseling, and now here I am. This is my third year at East High and to say I am excited is an understatement. I love this job so much and it gives me great joy to work with the amazing and talented East High students. I am thrilled to be a part of this family.

When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my family (husband, three kids, and our dog, Lou). We love to be outdoors, which includes sports, hiking, biking, and running. When the weather is not agreeable, you can find us doing puzzles or enjoying board games.

I am happy to introduce myself as one of the school counselors at East High School!  I grew up in the Philly suburbs, but I spent the last 20 years living in Annapolis, Maryland. I am a proud graduate of Shippensburg University where I earned a B.S. in Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology.  After graduation, I worked as a Juvenile Probation Officer while attending graduate school at Loyola University in Baltimore, MD.  Since earning my M.Ed. in School Counseling, I worked as a High School Counselor for 18 years in Prince George's County Public Schools. Relocating to Central PA and being a counselor at East High School has been a wonderful new journey that I have immensely enjoyed!  I am thrilled to be working with students, parents, teachers, administrators, and parents whom I so highly regard.

Beyond the school counseling role, I played college lacrosse and coached both middle school and high school girls’ lacrosse. I am married with a teenage son.  I enjoy camping, boating, and anything related to the beach.  I love going on adventures as well as running marathons.

I really enjoy my role in encouraging all children to strive for their personal best!

Hi Everyone,

I am originally from New Jersey, but grew up in Charlotte, NC.  I moved to the Harrisburg area in the middle of high school and am a graduate of Hershey High School.  I have a BA in psychology and political science from Western Maryland College, now McDaniel College, and continued my education immediately following my undergradate studies to complete a MS in counselor education from McDaniel College.  I have been a school counselor for 16 years, and have been at EHS for 14 years.  My Mom worked at EHS before me so I have continued the family tradition.  I love CD East High it is the most unique, and special school, and an amazing place to work!

Personally, I am a huge sports fan (Keep Pounding, Roll Tide, Buzz City, Go Heels), love to read, travel, and spend time with my family and friends.

My professional journey: I am local to Harrisburg, PA, graduating from Red Land HS in 2005. (Fun fact: My Mom is an East High Alumna!) I graduated from Shippensburg University in 2009 with a BA in Psychology. Following graduation, I worked for six years as an activities counselor/program coordinator for Philhaven Behavioral Healthcare’s Therapeutic After-School Program in Harrisburg. While working, I completed my MA in Counseling at Messiah College. During graduate school, my final internship experience was at East High! I immediately grew to love the school and was fortunate enough to be hired as a School Counselor at East High after graduation in 2015. This is my sixth year at EHS and I could not be happier! I love the feeling of acceptance and family within these walls, and couldn’t imagine myself anywhere else. #pantherpide

On a personal note: I am married to my college SHIPmate and am a proud dog mom to our amazing rescue pup, Parker. I love spending time with family and friends, being outside (especially sitting on a beach), taking photos, event planning, and creating chalkboard art. I am passionate about helping others and helping them reach their full potential.
