Dear 1st grade families,

Hello! My name is Ulyses Hernandez, but all my students call me “Mr. H.”     I am so happy to share that I will be your child’s 1st grade teacher for the rest of the school year at South Side Elementary! This will be my third year teaching at South Side and I cannot wait to begin. I am extremely excited to get to know you and your child, but first, here are some things I would like to share about myself.

I grew up in Harrisburg, PA and went to Tri-C Elementary School in Central Dauphin School District before moving to Middletown, PA to finish my high school career. I graduated from Shippensburg University in May 2020 with a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education (PreK-4) with a minor in Military Science. I am also fluent in Spanish. Currently, I am in the PA National Guard as a 1st Lieutenant and have served for 8 years now. When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family, especially with my dog Abby.

I am looking forward to working with you and your child! We will have many opportunities to learn and grow in the days ahead.
