• Me
Hello! My name is Elena Germaine and I am a 5th grade teacher at Mountain View Elementary School. I am very excited to be your child's 5th Grade Teacher

Thinking back to when I was growing up, I knew I always wanted to be a teacher. After graduating from Central Dauphin, I went to Millersville University. Although I began my degree in Elementary/Early Childhood Education, I became interested in Graphic Design and switched my degree to Art. I received my first Bachelor's degree in Art with a Graphic Design Option in December of 2003. I went to work for Clipper Magazine and after 3 years, knew in my heart that teaching was where I belonged. So I went back to school at Penn State Harrisburg, again in Elementary/Early Childhood Education, and graduated in May of 2008. I have been teaching (and LOVING it) ever since.

My philosophy of education is that all children can learn to the best of their ability and that learning must be a life-long process. My goal during the course of the school year will be to assist the students in achieving academic success appropriate to them by adjusting my instruction to fit the individual needs and learning styles of all my students. Through motivating and real-life activities, I hope to instill a desire in the students to learn inside and outside of the classroom.

There are many things I love to do on my spare time, but these are a few of my favorite things. I absolutely LOVE the movie Monsters Inc. My entire room has a monster feel to it! I absolutely love anything Penn State. My husband is from New York, so I have to support his teams--Yankees, NY Rangers, and Giants are all we follow! I also love reading, watching HGTV and DIY shows, and spending time with my family and friends. My favorite colors are purple and green. I love my dog Remy very much. He is a crazy fox terrier mix whose favorite thing to do is play ball. My favorite food is anything made by my husband and homemade baked ziti. My favorite all-time book is Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. I am always reading books. Favorite children's book author's include Roald Dahl, J.K. Rowling, Rick Riordan, and Dr. Seuss.

Communication between school and home is key in helping students to succeed. I can be reached by phone at Mountain View (717-657-8585) during school hours or you may send a note to school with your child. My school email is egermaine@cdschools.org. I will be communicating classroom happenings to you through notes home and email.
