    Below is a brief description of the Skills Group interventions that we provide at Paxtang.
     
     
    Soar To Success is the reading program used for instruction with this group. This program focuses on teaching students to apply decoding skills and to develop effective comprehension strategies for constructing meaning as they read fiction and informational text.
     
    My Sidewalks Early Reading Intervention focuses on teaching students letter names and sounds; segmenting, blending, and integrating sounds in words; word reading; and sentence reading.
     
    My Sidewalks Intensive Reading Intervention, Level A focuses on teaching students letter names and sounds, blending sounds in words with accuracy and speed, high-frequency words, vocabulary, passage reading and retelling, and reading fluency.
     
    My Sidewalks Intensive Reading Intervention, Level B focuses on teaching students letter names and sounds, blending sounds in words with accuracy and speed, high-frequency words, vocabulary, passage reading and retelling, and reading fluency.
     
    My Sidewalks Intensive Reading Intervention, Level C focuses on teaching students letter sounds, blending sounds in words with accuracy and speed, decoding multisyllabic words, vocabulary, passage reading and summarizing, and reading fluency.
     
    My Sidewalks Intensive Reading Intervention, Level D focuses on teaching students letter sounds, decoding multisyllabic words, vocabulary, passage reading and summarizing, and reading fluency.
     
    PALS focuses on having students with similar reading abilities are paired to work on the reading skills of oral reading fluency, predicting, retelling, and summarizing.
     
    Corrective Reading focuses on developing decoding skills so the students can read grade-level text accurately and fluently.
     
    Project Read Phonology teaches the concepts of phonemic awareness, letter names and sounds, decoding strategies, and syllabication so students can become accurate readers and writers. Report Form is the reading comprehension program used for instruction with this group. This program teaches students a process to collect, organize, and synthesize (combine) information when reading informational text.

    Story Form is the reading comprehension program that teaches students a process to identify elements of fiction text and to use analysis, synthesis (combining of ideas), and evaluation to become critical readers.
     
    Project Read Linguistics focuses on teaching students automatic decoding strategies for multi-syllable words and on building their vocabulary.
