• Well, hello there! I'm born and raised in the area and graduated from Susquehanna Township High School.  Then, I continued my education at Shippensburg University, where I received my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Reading.  My professional experience began in the Harrisburg City School District working in second and third grade. After that I came to CDSD where I worked as a substitute teacher before teaching 4th grade at E.H. Phillips Elementary for three years.  Next, I received my Master's Degree through Cabrini College.  I love being part of the Paxtonia team for over ten years now and look forward to meeting all of you!  Fourth grade is a blast and I can't wait to get started.
I enjoy music and like going to concerts, especially in the summer.  For instance, I participated in musicals, pit, show choir, chorus, band, orchestra, and marching band in high school and college.  I still play the French horn and piano, and am excited that as 4th graders you have the option to start an instrument this year too!
Also, I  like to travel.  For example, visiting my cousin in Oregon was unforgettable.  Guess what?  I also have family in Ohio and Massachusetts.  In addition, my two best friends now live in Chicago and New York City.  I visit them as much as I can, but we stay in touch even though we're far apart. One of my favorite trips was to Negril, Jamaica!.  There are pictures below.  Sometimes I get to vacation with friends and family in Maryland, Delaware, and the Carolinas.  Once I was lucky enough to drive a bright red 2005 Ford Thunderbird to Miami, Florida!  My best friends just got married in Porto, Portugal so I received another cool stamp on my passport and a bunch of wonderful memories to cherish!  These are some of my "seed stories" and you'll get to write about your's this year as a personal narrative.
I love to laugh... you'll see my sense of humor in our classroom!  For example, I love to go to comedy shows & watch funny movies and TV.  Furthermore, I also love art, which was always one of my favorite school subjects.  I'm excited to meet the new art teacher!  But second place goes to Math.  You will be able to challenge me and I'm anxious to see your skills :)  We have lots of ways to study our facts to build our speed and accuracy.
Have you been reading this summer?  There are so many great books out there.  I can't wait to hear about some of your favorites.  We have a HUGE classroom library that I know you'll love to borrow from.  In previous years, we really enjoyed The One and Only Ivan as our read aloud along with The Adventures of Hugo Cabret. First, we'll start with the classic Because of Winn-Dixie!  Which was so good they made it into a movie!  Have you seen it?
My favorite color is blue and I have blue eyes.  I have pictures of my family pets in room 20.  Jackson, a black and white cat, is adopted and acts more like the dogs. Ha ha!  Then there's the turtle, Speedy, a red-eared slider from Hilton Head, South Carolina.  I can't believe how much he's grown.
Here is a picture of my dog, Cooper.  He's a boxer and bulldog mix, who just turned 8 years old, so he's considered a "senoir" but will always be my "puppy". We like walking at Wildwood and by the Susquehanna River. He enjoys swimming but he needs a vest or he'll sink like a rock. Ha ha!  See him grow in the images below:

As far as sports teams go, I'm a full Philadelphia fan!  I attend as many games as possible or I'm cheering from my living room ;)
"Fly Eagles Fly, On The Road To Victory.
Fight Eagles Fight, Score A Touchdown 1-2-3.

    Hit 'Em Low.
    Hit 'Em High.
And We'll Watch Our Eagles Fly.

Fly Eagles Fly, On The Road To Victory.

    E-A-G-L-E-S, EAGLES!!!"
    • Phillies baseball  but you can also catch me cheering for our Harrisburg Senators!
    • Flyers hockey  but I do like to see our chorus sing at Hershey Bears games, too
    • 76ers basketball  ( I attended their last game at the Spectrum and Dr. J was there!)
We have a promising team that I think can make it to the playoffs once again this season! Embiid, Simmons, and Butler phenomenal!

Over the school year, during morning meetings, class discussions, and in your writing, I can learn more about YOU !  I'm extremely proud to be your teacher this year!  See you on Monday, August 26th, 2019.
