Pupil Services
Mrs. Mary Herster was hired as the Director of Pupil Services for the CDSD. Mrs. Herster will be responsible for performing central office duties to support the overall instructional mission of the school district. Some of these duties include overseeing Child Accounting, Central Registration, Alternative Education and Displaced student population.
Experience:
Mary began her career at the Central Dauphin School District where she served as a 5th grade teacher at North Side Elementary school. While with the district, she earned her first master’s degree, tenure, and Level II certification. Following her public teaching experience, Mary held administrative positions at the Pennsylvania Department of Education and at Lebanon Valley College. Desiring to return to K-12 education and work more directly with students, Mary took a position with the Vista Foundation where she served as an itinerant teacher for students with high functioning autism primarily within the Carlisle Area School District. After 9 years as an itinerant teacher in the field of Special Education, Mary returned to Vista’s main campus in Hershey where she held positions as the Director of Pupil Services and the Director of Special Education. Mary is looking forward to returning to the Central Dauphin School District and joining the administrative team.
