Early Admission Screening

  1. Parents currently residing in the district must direct a letter to the superintendent of the Central Dauphin School District requesting early admission to first grade no later than July 1st.
  2. The child’s birth date indicating age of six must occur before October 1st.
  3. A release of information must be signed to allow the school district to receive information from the child’s current teacher. Copies of the child’s work and school performance will be obtained from their current preschool/day care setting or homeschooling.
  4. The parent will make the child available for screening with school district personnel. That screening may include personality assessment, intellectual ability screening, academic achievement testing and curriculum based assessment in reading, math and written language.
  5. District screeners will provide the superintendent with the results of the screening and their recommendation within two weeks of the evaluation. The superintendent will inform the parent of the decision. The recommendation of the superintendent will be final.
