Central Dauphin School District recommends the use of District-issued devices for educational purposes.

District-Issued Device Benefits
  • Fully configured with everything your student needs:
    • Applications
    • District Wi-Fi / Network Settings
    • Device permissions
    • Web filtering
    • Student safety measures
    • Enrolled into our classroom management system to help teachers keep students on task.
  • Fully supported by the Central Dauphin Technology Services Department
  • Fully supported for mandatory state assessments such as PSSA

Personal Device Considerations
  • Students are responsible for troubleshooting their own personal computers (Laptop, Chromebook, iPad) such as network connection, signing in, and general technical errors associated with their devices.
  • State-mandated assessments require district-managed devices.  A district device will be made available to students to sign out for these assessments.
  • Students are required to have full access to the device.  Parental protections must be disabled.  Reasons:
    • Ability to join the district’s Wi-Fi network.
    • Ability to add their Central Dauphin account to the device.
    • Ability to switch between their personal account and their Central Dauphin account.
  • Students must remain logged into their Central Dauphin accounts during class time to ensure:
    • Applications – rostering / access to assigned work
    • Content filtering
    • Classroom management
    • Important to know:
      • Central Dauphin has no means to enforce the use of student accounts on personal devices.  Students can switch to their personal accounts and bypass content filtering and safety measures if they have access to a personal hotspot.
