Operation Recognition Veterans Diploma Project

CENTRAL DAUPHIN SCHOOL DISTRICT IS LOOKING FOR:  Veterans whose military service interrupted their high school education now have a way to receive their diploma from the Central Dauphin School District.

Operation Recognition allows Pennsylvania school districts to grant a high school diploma to any honorably discharged veteran who served in the United States military during World War II, Korean Conflict or Vietnam War,” according to the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs.

Veterans who meet the following criteria are encouraged apply for a diploma.  

  • Honorably discharged from the U.S. Armed Forces.
  • Served in the U.S. military between Sept. 16, 1940 and Dec. 31, 1946 (World War II); June 27, 1950 and Jan. 30, 1955 (Korean Conflict); or between Feb. 28, 1961 and May 7, 1975 (Vietnam War).
  • Attended high school between 1937-46, 1947-55 or 1958-75.
  • Would have been a member of a graduating class during 1941-50, 1951-57 or 1961-75, but did not graduate due to military service.
  • Is a current resident of Central Dauphin School District or attended high school at Central Dauphin or one of its predecessor high schools.
  • Upon proper application, the board may award a diploma posthumously to a veteran who meets these requirements.

All applications MUST be accompanied by a DD-214.  The district will assist eligible veteran’s that need to obtain their DD-214 if they do not have one.

If criteria is met, Central Dauphin may exchange a GED for a diploma.
