It offers all sorts of printable games, books, flashcards, Spanish resources, and many, many other fun and motivating things! This site provides videos and pictures about every topic under the sun! It's a great place to help build "background" knowledge. Here you'll find links for spelling, reading, and writing.https://www.readinga-z.com/ To use this website fully, there is a fee, but there are usually some free books and activities that you can download for free. The best part is that all the books are leveled, so you can pick books that are "just right" for you child. Your homeroom teacher or I can give you your child's reading level.https://www.abcmouse.com/ There is a free 30 day trial of this online early learning curriculum for ages 2 to 7.http://www.storylineonline.net Story Line Online features actors reading some of their favorite children's books. Each story comes with a free activity guide.Read To Me is similar to Story Line Online (see above link).Starfall is a great website for young readers or those who are learning to read. It begins with teaching children the alphabet and sounds, while also providing stories for reading practice.ABOUT METhis is my 16th year as a Reading Specialist in Central Dauphin School District. I am a graduate of Messiah College and received my Masters of Education with a Reading Certification from Shippensburg University. My teaching experience before coming to CD includes teaching preschool, Kindergarten, and Fifth grade.
Outside of school I spend time traveling to see my kids, their spouses, and my 10 grandchildren. I enjoy reading (especially at the NJ shore!), learning to quilt, spoiling my 2 dogs, and being involved in my church.I LOVE teaching and I LOVE reading. My goal is to instill some of that love into your child while teaching them skills that will enable them to read well and be lifelong learners. If you have questions or concerns about your child, please call me at South Side Elementary or e-mail me at NBookwalter@cdschools.org. The best times to reach me are 8:35-9:00 a.m. 717- 657-3204Happy reading!
