    Welcome to West Hanover Elementary!

    Lewis J. Correale III
    Principal

West Hanover Elementary School is one of thirteen elementary schools in the Central Dauphin School District. Currently there are approximately 525 students in grades K-5 attending West Hanover. Class sizes range from 18 to 25. Students must be 5 years of age prior to September 1st to register for kindergarten and 6 years by September 1st to begin first grade.  Students "graduating" from West Hanover attend the Central Dauphin Middle School.  For grades 9-12, students will attend Central Dauphin High School.   All elementary schools in the District are K-5 buildings and the four middle schools house students in grades 6-7-8.

No longer the oldest school in the district, our brand new West Hanover Elementary opened at the beginning of the 2019 school year.  The new building is equipped with wireless access throughout, a modern Media Center, spacious gymnasium and art rooms, separate rooms for both instrumental and choral music instruction,  and a computer lab.  In addition, the building has 3 Collaborative Learning Spaces (CLS) for group learning and activities.  Two playgrounds with brand new equipment are on site for recess fun.  We are also fortunate to have the WH Township maintained baseball fields behind us to provide much "open" space for recess, physical education, and the annual field day events. Our custodial staff does a fabulous job maintaining a very clean building and surrounding area.

In addition to highly qualified classroom and special teachers, the West Hanover staff includes a full-time Guidance Counselor, full-time Reading Specialist, full-time Health room coverage, Speech and Language Clinician, School Psychologist, Gifted Support, Instrumental teacher (band and strings), Data and Instruction Specialist, and two Learning Support teachers.  Students in grades 1-5 participate in art, music, physical education and library one time per six day cycle.

We welcome parents to join our very active and supportive PTA here at West Hanover.  This hard working group of parents provides many educational as well as enjoyable activities for our students and their families!  Our students are truly the benefactors of the efforts of our PTA!

West Hanover Elementary looks forward to meeting you and answering any questions you may have. If you would decide to relocate in our attendance area and would have more questions about West Hanover Elementary and/or the Central Dauphin School District please contact the school office (657-3210).  We are confident you will see a very positive school family in which educating your most prized possession(s) is our top priority.
