Degrees and Certifications:
Undergraduate Degree: Family and Consumer Science Education from Messiah College (now Messiah University) Graduate Degree: Teaching and Learning with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education from Lock Haven University
My name is Amanda Brady and this will be my 7th year teaching Family and Consumer Science (abbreviated FCS but commonly known as Home Ec) at Central Dauphin High School. This school year I will be teaching Intro to FCS, Child Development and Parenting, and Early Childhood Education. The intro course is only a 2 marking period course while Early Childhood Education and Child Development and Parenting are full year courses.
While people stereotypically think of cooking and food when they think of FCS, none of these courses are based on cooking. There may be a few cooking experiences throughout our time together but that depends on classroom behavior, classroom participation, and budget/donations.
I graduated from Messiah College with my undergrad degree in 2015 for Family and Consumer Science Education and I obtained my Masters Degree in Teaching and Learning with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education from Lock Haven University.
My class will be using Canvas as a way to distribute information, assignments, and other related resources. We will also be using the Remind App for those students who have parental permission. For more information about the Remind App, please visit my "Remind App" page on the right.
If you need to contact me for any reason, the best way to reach me is through my school email. I am likely to resopnd within 24 hours as long as it is a school day. (email@example.com)
