In response to school closures due to the COVID-19, we are asking that you ensure that your child is working on various learning activities that we as a 5th grade team have created to help your student stay educationally focused during this extended period of time.
Please feel free to pick and choose the activities that work best for your child. It is very important that we keep the students engaged in reading and math activities so that when we return to school, we can continue with our educational plan for the year. As teachers, we do plan to monitor each student’s activity and we will be available by email should any questions arise.
Here are several websites the students may get on to help keep them engaged:
https://classroommagazines.scholastic.com/support/learnathome.html This site is great it gives a reading lesson a day and work to go with it. It give the students an article to read and actives to do with it. The lessons are for pre k to 8 th grade. Click on the grade level that you want.
https://info.edmentum.com/Worksheet-Bundles_Download.html This is great review of skills that have already taught this year.
readworks.org - click content and you can search by grade level and bring up articles/passages to read and comprehension questions that go with it.
https://www.kennedy-center.org/education/mo-willems/ I have had my daughters doing this everyday for fun and they love it. The artist Mo willems is explain his home studio and teaching the kids how to draw characters from his book. You could than have your kids write a story using their new character.

Have your student read for 30 minutes every day and do one of the options for a reading log on my homepage.
We have uploaded a continue learning packet, if you would want to use it. Even if you do not have a printer you can put it on the screen and have your student answer the questions on paper.
Also, students should continue to complete assignments on Edmentum. Please contact me if your student does not remember their login information.
Take care and thank you for your continued support.
