Ms. Jones, Assistant Principal:
Hello South Side Students & Families!
I am so excited to begin my journey here at South Side with you all! I am looking forward to working together in our educational partnership!
My name is Rachel Jones and I am one of the Assistant Principals here at South Side! I am a Central Dauphin alumni and grew up in the CD area. I attended Lawnton Elementary, Swatara Middle, and East High School. After graduating from East, I received my bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education & Special Education from California University of Pennsylvania. Shortly thereafter I began my teaching career in the Central Dauphin School District. I have taught 4th and 3rd grades. But majority of my 6 years of experience, were spent in 3rd grade. During that time, I received my master’s degree in Educational Leadership from California University of Pennsylvania. Go Vulcans!
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family and my dog Louie. I am an avid sports watcher and huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan. I also enjoy arts and crafts, fishing, and watching movies!
I am excited to continue my career in education here at South Side Elementary. I am looking forward to getting to know you all and your South Side student/s. I believe every child has the ability to learn and be anything they aspire to be, and I believe that it is my job to assist in that process. As an assistant principal I will be a leader, advocate, and partner in your student’s educational journey. Here’s to the new school year!
