School Counseling Topics K-5

  • Grade K-5 students will meet with the school counselor at least twice per month for classroom guidance lessons.  Some important topics that we will be discussing this school year include:

    • The Zones of Regulation
    • Bullying
    • Respect
    • Anxiety & Stress
    • Trustworthiness
    • Courage
    • Responsibility
    • Caring & Kindness
    • Fairness
    • Citizenship
    • Resilience
    • Citizenship
    • Career
    • Wellness
    • Growth Mindset

Teachers, staff, the principal, and parents make referrals to the school counselor as needed.  Students may self-refer as issues arise by telling a caring adult they would like to see the school counselor and/ or using the yellow referral slip. The school counselor uses yellow school counseling referral slips that students can discretely place in the mailbox outside of my office (room 206 A).

Individual and small group school counseling sessions occur at a time that is convenient for both the classroom teacher’s schedule and the student’s schedule.

Students are also encouraged to use the blue bullying report forms when they need to report an incident of bullying.  Blue bullying report forms are in homeroom classrooms and the school counseling office.
