• How To Register Your Child
    Student Registration

    All new Student Registrations occur at the Central Dauphin School District Administration Building at 600 Rutherford Road, Harrisburg, PA  17109.  You may stop by the office between the hours of 8:30 a. m. – 3:30 p.m. to pick up a registration packet or call 717-545-4703 extension 70222 or 70257 to have a registration packet mailed to you. After completing the forms in your packet, please call for an appointment to register your child. The office is open year round so register early.

    All student registrations are by appointment only. The parent/guardian must come into the office in person to complete the registration process.
    Having all your documentation and forms completed prior to your appointment will expedite the enrollment process. Items required at the time of your appointment to register your child:
    • Completed district registration forms
    • Official Birth Certificate of student
    • Immunization Records (You can get a copy of your child’s immunization record from the school you are leaving or from your child’s physician)
    • Proof of Residency in Central Dauphin School District (i.e.: Lease with name(s) of parents/legal guardians and children, Deed to your property, Mortgage settlement sheet, signed Sales Agreement, recent tax receipt)
    • Parent/Guardian Photo Identification (i.e.; Drivers License, non-drivers identification, passport, military identification)
    • Report Card/Transfer Card/Transcript
    • Name and address of previous school
    • If appropriate: most recent IEP, Agency Letter of Placement, or Court Order (Proof of Guardianship)

    Registrations for first graders who have not attended kindergarten are encouraged to do so in the spring to facilitate assignments for the next school term.

    Kindergarten Registration

    Kindergarten classes are held in each elementary building for eligible children of the district. Enrollment is limited to the first ten (10) days of school.

    Kindergarten pupils must be five (5) years old before September 1. Children entering first grade must be six (6) years old before September 1.

    Registration for next school year kindergarten is conducted in the individual elementary building during March and April.  Specific dates will be announced. Anytime after April, registrations for kindergarten are completed at the Central Dauphin School District Administration Building.     Advance notice will be given to parents via the school menu, news release and notices from the buildings. Assignment to kindergarten session (AM or PM sessions) shall be based on geographical area depending upon the needs or peculiarities as determined by the school principal.

    Pupils Moving Within the District

    Pupils whose parents/guardians move from one attendance area to another within the district will be permitted to finish the school year in which the move takes place in the building to which they were originally assigned. If in the following year the pupil would be in the highest grade in the building, he/she would be permitted to remain for that one additional year. Parents/guardians would be responsible for providing transportation.

    Withdrawal Procedure

    Elementary - Pupils moving from Central Dauphin School District should inform their teacher and the school office at least three (3) days in advance. On the last day of attendance, the pupil will be given a transfer card. Test data, report cards and other information kept by the school system will be mailed to the pupil’s new school when a request for the release of these records is received from the school to which the pupil transferred.

    Secondary - Any pupil who plans to withdraw from school shall discuss this matter with a guidance counselor as soon as possible.

    The last day a pupil plans to be in school, he or she shall report to the guidance counselor to secure a withdrawal form. Pupils should then observe the following procedure:
    1. Submit all books, money owed, equipment, etc., to each teacher concerned and secure teacher’s initials to signify that clearance has been completed. Money owed must be submitted to the sponsor of the organization involved.
    2. Go to a guidance counselor for a final interview.
    3. Return completed form to office secretary who will obtain principal’s signature indicating that permission is granted for the pupil to withdraw from school on the date indicated. Locker key refunds and final obligations shall be transacted at this time.
